Twin Peaks x Gelato Messina: That Cherry Pie Is Worth A Stop!
The first four episodes of David Lynch's masterful return to TV series Twin Peaks premiered on Stan this Monday and in accordance with the original series, it's a bizarrely chaotic affair and most of the time you have no idea what the hell is going on.
But one thing has always been for sure: that town is host to a killer cherry pie and a damn fine cup of coffee! Thankfully, Stan teamed up with Gelato Messina in honour of Twin Peaks' return to recreate the RR Diner and dole out some deliciously FREE gelato.
Gelato Messina Richmond was vividly transformed into the cosy diner complete with a "Welcome To Twin Peaks" sign (where you could pose with the Log Lady's very own log) and a jazzy pianist on hand to perform Angelo Badalamenti's stirring original score. It was awesome.
Most importantly though, was the gelato. Messina had three exclusive Twin Peaks-themed flavours on hand:
- Damn Good Cup of Coffee: Donut Gelato with Coffee Caramel and Coffee Crunch
- Norma's Incredible Cherry Pie: Cherry Sorbet with Shortcrust Gelato and Layered with Cherry Compote
- She's Dead, Wrapped in Plastic:Vanilla Gelato with a Raspberry Gel and a Blueberry Sheet.
AND for the lucky first 50 people who streamed through the door between 12-4pm and 5-10pm, a slice of Norma's Cherry Pie itself was up for grabs. This baby was worth the queue!
The tart cherry compote brilliantly gelled with the sweetness of the vanilla gelato. Not to mention the salty, crunchy biscuit base which nostalgically reminded me of a honey joy.
My eyes were definitely bigger than my belly, but luckily my log does not judge.
