Review: Three One 2 One

This month, myself and the members of the Melbourne Foodie Hub were super lucky to be invited to enjoy the extreme shakes and burgers at Three One 2 One in Richmond.  Just a short tram ride down Flinders Street Station, the absolutely buzzing atmosphere of Three One 2 One is the life of the party on the quieter end of Bridge Road.


They're definitely known for their
absolutely balls-to-the-walls freakshakes. Loaded with every sweet treat you could ever imagine, these babies won't just make for the perfect addition to your 'Gram, they'll satisfy your tingling tastebuds too. I went for the 'White Ninja': white chocolate, Kit Kat, peanut butter, M&Ms, Kinder Surprise, walnuts, chocolate cake and chocolate walnut fudge.  I was so impressed by the powerful punch of genuine peanut butter flavour in the shake.  Too often restaurants skimp on the freakshake flavour in favour of just loading up a mason jar with goodies, but Three One 2 One deliver the whole package. Plus, I got a cute little toy in my Kinder Surprise- what a blast from the past!

If you're looking for something utterly INSANE to satisfy the ultimate sweet tooth, for the month of September only you can order the special shake Una Vaina Loca. Decadent layers of ice cream and thick, sweet syrup hold this massive tower together, containing not only a waffle but a whole ice cream sandwich and a donut... Enough said!

The freakshakes perfectly complement the awesome variety of burgers available.  Of course my fat ass just had to go for the biggest, baddest burger on the menu 'The Big Mouth': Double beef patties, smoked cheese, sliced pickles, bacon, potato gems, mac and cheese sauce, 3121 sauce all contained within a red brioche bun.  I would go as far to say this is definitely one of the best burgers I have experienced in Melbourne. The unique combination of the potato gems, mac and cheese and 3121 sauce gelled perfectly with the juicy, flavoursome beef patties.  The smokiness of the sliced cheese stood out amongst this, whilst the sweetness of the pickles refreshingly broke through such decadence. I absolutely demolished this beast.

They also have a variety of great side dishes including a selection of loaded fries, like the loaded carbonara fries below- what an awesome invention!
